Fix or sell?
« on: January 15, 2009, 06:30:33 PM »
This 91 318is I have is causing me stress which I really dont need at the moment.
The kid who owned it before me had an accident, all above the front bumper, smashing, hood and fender and pushing the rad support in. Estimate to install the new OEM support (bought already) is $600 plus  bit to align the hood and fender etc. I drove this car home from Abbotsford at 70mph, drives really nice.

Its a good driver, 200k km (120,000 miles US car) Sterling Silver with grey cloth sport interior, the interior is really nice, door panels, seats and carpet. I have $1800 into this car, plus $100 for a new fan clutch, $25 for coolant, $150 to redo the bum portion of the drivers seat, $200 for a nice 91 silver hood and fender, $250 for the rad support, fresh synthetic oil change, I think it has a 4.10 LSD but will check tomorrow.

Heres a few pics. If I cant get $2400 right now for it (includes the hood, fender but the rad support is extra) then it will be parted out. I am sure I can get $600 US for that sport cloth interior. $500 for the engine and tranny, LSD etc etc. Keep in mind guys prices are different up here in Canada.
I can also deliver parts to Seattle

I have replacement Sterling silver hood and both fenders, replacement grilles and kidney, all headlights and there is no dmge to frt. bumper at all.

I am leaving for Alberta for a 6 month contract end of Feb and simply do not have time for this car considering the red IS and M5 need all kinds of work.
I am in Vancouver, B.C. Canada

Fix it, or sell it whole.  Too nice a car to part out IMO.

Way too nice to part!  I wish you were on the east coast.

Why not button it all up and enjoy it for the next 6 months then sell it for top dollar when you have to leave? These cars are getting harder and harder to find and in the kind of condition that one is in I have no doubt that you could double your $2400 asking price if you find an enthusiastic buyer. Keeping with the rarity factor, I feel that it would be a dishonor to part such a clean car, to have such a clean chassis rot in a scrap yard. In the end its up to you and what you want to do, but keep in mind there are such things as silly decisions ;)
