My heater control and obc lights seem to be flickering, more off time than on time. I am assumign this would be a loose connection but I am curious to know where the major connection points are to check.

Check the bulbs at the socket. While you're in there, replace the bulbs. They're probably pretty old by now.

talking about bulbs... how can i change the ones for the heater controls (fan speed, sliders and temperature)

do i have to take the whole console apart???

for the heater controls,sliders,and fan speed there are only 2 bulbs easiest accses if you pull your radio out one will be on the left top looking at the panel and the other is on the right side but i think it may be at the bottom not 100% sure though i know you can change them with out taking the whole consol apart.

Thats what I had to do. There are two screws under the console that you will need a short screwdriver for. Take the radio out too. BMW dealer should have bulbs in stock.

thanks! so basicly i'll try by taking out the radio first (can maybe get 2 bulbs out of 5) and for the sliders i'll have to take apart the console (up to removing the part that contains the shifter?)

i dont think you can change the bulbs on the sliders them selfs im pretty sure they are a 1 peice unit but i could be wrong.

Take the radio out and you can access the top left bulb rather easily .The bottom right can be accessed from the hole where the arrow is pointing under the fan switch . Do the top one first then you'll know what your feeling for when you do the bottom one. The bottom one is a PITA but can be done without taking the dash apart .I also did the one above the headlight switch . IIRC the sliders work off of fiber and are connected to the bottom bulb .When I did mine I used these and haven't had a problem for a year now :

anyone of you know what makes the speaker balance switch light up, I can't find and bulb anywhere for it, it's the kontakt that has 2 speakers on it, here a link for the whole dash, the top picture 7,it's the one to the left from the red triangle button:

I have one in an old 325 now (the engine transplant has been a much higher priority).

I can take a look, but IIRC that one has no light at all. The others have an internal low-wattage bulb soldered in.
