H&R Sports, coils binding on rear - is this right?
« on: December 11, 2008, 09:43:29 PM »
Since I usually crawl under my car while it is on jack stands, I never noticed that the middle coils on my rear springs fully bind when the car is on the ground. Suspension is Bilstein Sports and H&R Sports (I think...those are the springs I ordered...see the serial #s on the second pic) with stock spring pads.

Here is how the car sits

Does this seem right? I noticed other M42 E30s with H&R Sports and they were darker gray/black.

they are lighter grey which is odd..

ride height looks correct, the binding should be correct, it's part of the progressive nature of the coil. it does look a little over the top though

Everything looks ok, just like mine, I have same combo. When I got my springs, those are supposedly the sports for the 91 is but sports should be red and OEM sport is gray. So I think they are more like OEM but because of the cars weight, they drop like sports but even that I think is not exact, as the drop is not like regular sport springs. I have sports on my e28 and it slammed it a lot more.

Thanks guys...car handles well. Just seemed odd when I saw it. I guess the springs still have sufficient compression left to allow the suspension to perform.

Will be flogging her in an auto-x this weekend. Gotta love livin' in the South.
