Car:  05/1990 SterlingSilber Metalic 318is
Location:  State College PA/PennState for now.  Pensacola FL after graduation
Age:  25
Job:  Navy Sailor/Professional college student
Nickname:  the Silver Bullet

My car thus far:   I picked my car up arround Christmas time, mostly based on what I had read arround places like R3v and bimmerforums.  I was looking for some cheap daily transportation that's fun to drive, and the 318 fills the bill in spades.  Nothing remarkable about the car right now, just a clean survivor.  I've added the smily euro headlights, foglights (more on that in a future post), and a Jim C chip (thanks e9nine).   I also replaced the headunit and speakers with the Pioneer/XM setup from my old car (1995 Impala SS).  Pictures will be coming in a week or so, as I am out of town right now for spring break.

Future plans:  The car will be handed down to my oldest daughter when she turns 16, so it will be staying close to stock, with reasonable upgrades as things break on me.  the full OBC retrofit is in the works, and if anyone has a set of mudflaps lying around, let me know.

About myself:  I've been in the Navy for the past 8 years.  Someone must have thought I was doing something right, because they put me in the Navy's "STA-21" program. (https://www.sta-21.navy.mil if anyone is interested)  I'm going to graduate from PennState in August with a degree in Crime, Law, and Justice.  Then I'll be moving to Pensacola for flight training.  I'm married, and have two kids, with the third on the way in July.

Anyway, it's great to be here, and I'll post pics up next week sometime.

Twinpop- Yeah, $60 is a smoking deal for a JC chip.  I paid e9nine ~150 (cant remember exactly) and I thought it was worth that much.  I don't think I would have paid full price for one though.

BTW, both you and M42Technic are relatively close by, If either of you want to get together, let me know.  Don't know if either of you are fans, but there are plenty of good locations arround Penn State for a quick photoshoot.

Yes, I managed to get my act together and get some pictures today.  The weather was really good, it was too good an opportunity to pass up.  Excuse my poor photography skills, please :).  Let me know what you think

Sterling Silber metalic.  Not a terribly comon collor, if what I see on the boards is any indication.  I like it.

Obviously, the sealed beams sucked.  They had to go immediatly.  Also, note the missing is lip.  Call me crazy, but I don't think the car looks that bad without it.  Not a high priority.
More to follow!

Oh, I'll put this up in the photoshop section, but if someone has some spare time on their hands and wanted to make a sig pic, I would appreciate it a lot!
That's it for now
Thanks

Whats up with the front kidney grille? Haha did you lose your fastener pieces?

I'll see you in the Photoshop section.

If I'm missing pieces, then I never had them to begin with.  I never actually paid much attention to the kidney, I'll have to go check it out and see what's up with it.

Well, I now know what is wrong with my kidney's. Both tabs that hold them in on the bottom are broken, and the P.O.'s solution was to drill a hole in the center between the two kidneys, screw them to the valance, then cover the screw with electrical tape.  Nice...
BTW, I'm looking to buy a nice used set of kidneys, pm me if you have a set for sale.

M42 Technik-  Thanks for spotting that.  I'm such a BMW noob that I haven't seen enough in person to notice it was messed up.

That would be cool someday.  You've probably got about as much free time as I do with the kids and such.  The Silver Bullet is in pretty good shape BTW.  Did you ever consider painting the spokes on your weaves black and polishing the lips?  I think that would look awesome on your car.  I'm thinking about it for mine in the near future.

Yeah, that's actually on my to do list, although it's pretty far down right now. There's a pretty good write up on that over on r3v that I was planning on following some weekend.
I actually have two extra weaves with winter tires that are on the rear right now, although if the weather stays nice, they might be coming off real soon.
