Which coil wire?? Ahhhhhhhh!
« on: June 19, 2006, 08:06:44 PM »
Alright, which coil wire goes where? Know what I mean?

I have been trying to figure this out for over a week (passively/frequent beer breaks) ;)

I replaced the motor in my 91 318is, and changed the harness at the same time. Unfortunately, there is no obvious way to tell which coil wire goes to which coil...

Can anyone help?

There are two plugs on the end of the harness(I will call them A and B), and two plugs a few inches in (I will call them C and D)...

Do A and B go to coils 3 and 4? 4 and 3? OR????

If you have a better way to explain it, let me know... Thanks a mil!
Joe

I suggest you use a multimeter to check continuity between the computer connector and the coil connectors.

Pin 25 of computer should go to pin 1 of coil/spark plug # 1
Pin 52 of computer should go to pin 1 of coil/spark plug # 2
Pin 24 of computer should go to pin 1 of coil/spark plug # 3
Pin 51 of computer should go to pin 1 of coil/spark plug # 4
