I just wanted to share my experience performing a retro of the OE premium door tweeters AND upgrading the component to a non OE part (a metal dome tweeter made by MB Quart in my case). They use some nice epoxy at the factory that is rather difficult to remove.
After a bit of searching I found a thread somewhere suggesting boiling the entire door tweeter enclosure to remove the old tweeter.
It definately works, so if anyone has been holding back worried about melting plastic, they seem to hold up.
A nice rolling boil for 15-20 min, they should pop right out the backside.
I would remove the grill (SAVE THIS) and dust shield prior to boiling.
Place your fingers around the backside and press it out with your thumbs when its still steaming and hot , just keep even pressure distro around the whole thing, if it feels tight, just boil some more
I used a bit of super glue to glue the new driver in place and fitted the grill.
For reference I used MB Quart RUA 213 with 1" tweeters.

OE Premium door tweeter* & rear deck enclosures (just boil the tweeters, they pop right out)
*all E30's come pre-wired to the door tweeter location through the factory door gromit from the kick panel area regardless if premium sound was ordred from the factory.
