m50 Intake Manifold on a M42
« on: November 09, 2008, 06:29:12 PM »
anybody ever thought about doing this and just choping the 5 and 6 intake ports ? use the m50 obd1 connections... I wonder if the bolt pattern is the same config ... this would be a realy mint mod if it worked !

I wonder....sounds cool, but I dunno if the bolts line up.

Also, might it hurt performance? The intakes are already designed well on M42's (for stock motors anyway). If your motor has work, this might be a good thing though.

I seriously do not think bolting up an M50 intake is going to provide you with any gains at all. This is because the M42 dual resonance intake (assuming yours is E36) is designed to provide maximum power/torque at both high and low RPM. Changing to a single length intake is going to kill your low end.

If you are seriously planning to change the intake. A much better solution would be the ITBs from Euro S50 motors.
