Well, as tempted as I was to go with springs as well, timing isn't working out for me, so I'm sticking with the original plan of staying all stock... for now.

I was out instructing at Buttonwillow (in SoCal for non-California listers) and I had to bring the M42 out since the power steering in my M3 (E36) went out last weekend, and that car is a bear to drive without power assist (heavy car with sticky tires = a LOT of work with no power).
I took the E30 out for a session to try to get a feel for the car, and it
absolutely does need dampers. Not just because of the body roll, but when coming out of corners under power, the rear end hops quite a lot so there's traction, then no traction, traction, no traction and so on. Fun, but not really productive and since my girlfriend will be using the car on track sometimes, I'd rather opt for something the she finds fun too, since this would just scare her as it is now. Sure was a fun ride while it lasted, though...
Until the water pump started to go out. Oops! Came into the pits and hears a lot of noise from under the hood. Popped it open to see that the fan was moving all over the place, so I had to have it towed to my mechanic (thank god for AAA Premium!!).
Anyway, while it's getting the needed work done, I'm going to put in the Bilstein HDs, so if anyone's curious as to what an all-stock suspension with Bilstein HDs feels like, I'd be happy to write up a review after a few days of driving. Just say the word!
