can someone please help me on the easiest way to replace my starter on my e36 m42. Im completely clueless. thanks alot

Transmission Out?

I like how Pelican mentions "If you happen to have your transmission out of the car, it’s really easy to replace the starter."

What they don't tell you is that you must disconnect/remove the starter from the transmission before the transmission will budge.

So does that mean you have to take off the intake manifold to take of the starter to take off the tranny?

Just replaced my starter due to my clumbsyness tightening the wiring studs causing one to break.. I had the manifiold off at the time and struggle to see how you could do it from the top with this in place. The manifold says its possible from below though. Book a neck massage in advance though...

Oh and dont overtighten the small stud terminals, mine were surprisingly weak..
