Meeting emission requirements.

Texas (Austin) now has yearly emission testing. I barely passed this year. Are there any tips and tricks for passing. Car is stock with 200,000 miles and an aftermarket converter. Did I just locate the problem - the converter.

You can do what I do and find a guy that will pass your car for a special price.

In reality, besides having a functioning catalytic converter, your best bet is to be sure filters are clean, a good grade of gas is in the car, and most importantly, the operating temp is reached before testing (idea....a temporary hot thermostat.... might lower hydrocarbons.  It would make interesting research).
