« on: October 08, 2008, 01:34:11 PM »
hey everybody,
im new to the m42 club but have been posting on bimmerforums for awhile and am planning on building an m42 turbo to swap into by '74 2002. my goal is about 250rwhp. i have a list here of things i am lookin at using in my build. all i have below is all that i have considered for the swap(turbo part of the swap), and if i have left anything out, if there is anything i havent considered, or if there is anything that i have down wear youd recoment another type/product, it would be great for any and all input! here is my list:

Engine management: Megasquirt
Turbo: t3/t4 50trim .63ar
Pistons: forged 9:5:1 from racetep.com
Intercooler: out of evo or ebay
Manifold: m50 cut off from ebay until money comes for tubular
BOV: ? does it matter?
O2 sensor: readable wideband sensor
Injectors: Bosch EV1 42lb
Guages: Boost, oil temp, water temp
Muffler: Magnaflow single into dual tip
and the obviously i will need all oil n water lines and intercooler & exhaust piping

so here is what i have! any help reguarding missing or incorrect parts would be great!!! thanks for any help!!!

bov is necessary if you want your turbo to last without it you back spool the turbo. diff im using 3.25 lsd it works awsome full boost at 3700

Yes it does matter. Install also BOV. With Meqa you do not need a recirculating BOV, just dump to the atomsphere. You will also need add wastegate to your list.

no bov type or brand doesnt matter up to you. wastegate i would recommend external i started with internal and i couldnt get it to work boost was all over the place and wouldnt hold at one steady pressure all the way to redline
