Can anyone tell me what the symptons are of a failing driveshaft center support bearing?

Will there be vibrations that are similar to (or mimick) a wheel bearing or hub bearing failure?

Will these symptoms also occur when the car is put into a neutral "coast" on the highway?

1. Yes, but a little different and it will sound like the driveshaft is hitting the chassis right behind your ebrake. Its fairly easy to check. Crawl under your car and look at the rubber around the bearing. If any is missing it will be knocking around and will fail

2. Nope, with the car in neutral the driveshaft wont have a load.

So, prior to the actual rubber failure on it, there won't be any humming coming from it like a bad wheel/hub bearing?

Humming? Not that I've ever heard of. Humming might be your diff. I just had my LSD fail on my 318is. I had a humming about 50 miles before the diff gernaded.
