Need some help... constant misfiring.
« on: September 24, 2008, 05:32:21 PM »
my 92/93 318is has a constant misfire and it has almost now power. I believe that cylinders 2 and 4 are misfiring. All cylinders have spark. So I just finished replacing all the fuel injectors and still the same problem.

There isn't a code popping up and I'm lost at what to check for now. I don't want to just be replacing random parts hoping to fix the problem...

What else should I be looking for? Any help would be great! And anyone that figures out the problem will be paypaled some beer money!

Thanks guys

just a dumb ? you replace the spark plugs?? and what kind you use?? ive always used NGK on everything from lawnmower to 4 wheeler.. If there getting spark then it cant be the coil couse there getting spark but the spark may be really small spark causeing a slight detanation. Miss fire can also come from a cloged CAT ... But you would see the car overheating also but depends on how bad it is... May want to check timeing too... i dont know much about BMW's but i know alot about old chevys and if the timeing i off that bad it would couse a stumble of like a missfire.. hope it helps..
New to BMW\'s .. Im a chevy guy..

after doing more research, found out it's my ecu. cylinders 2 and 4's injectors weren't getting a firing signal after start. Pulled out my ecu and there was a lot of water damage.

Just got a used ecu (same bosch pt number) for $120 that's on its way.

so thanks for helping!
