icv location... lol

i can't find the icv... lol. i have a cheap manual on every e30 except m42s, and it doesn't say where the thing is, only how to check it and ajust it.

i looked for 10 mins... i can't find it. i looked alot in the intake area, i don't see it.

i have to be overlooking it, only thing i wanted to do was clean it to see if i could improve my idle, becuase my car doesn't seem to want to idle when first started.

can some one please give me some directions on where it is, and if its hard to remove, replace, & clean?

id like to do this tonight, so i don't have to wait forever for the idle to get better in the morning.

Back of the intake manifold.  Clean it with electronics cleaner.  It's non-adjustable.  Probably not the prob if it only idles rough in the morning.  Buy an E36 3-series Bentley.... it covers the M42.

i only have wd-40 so ill pick up some electronic cleaner or something to clean it with tomorrow.

but it always idles bad, its just worst when first started,( even when its 78 degrees outside, or ran all day) and it always dies, so i hope cleaning it will help.

You can pull it out and put 12V to it and make sure it opens and closes as it should. If it works fine then your idle issue is likely vacuum related. While you are cleaning the ICV, I would also pull the AFM and make sure it is clean and opens and closes free of any snagging. Before I cleaned mine the door would always snag a bit when opening the door, it moves nice and smooth now. Resolving idle issues is never fun, as there are numerous things that could be the culprit. Let us now how it goes and maybe we can point you in the right direction.
