Removing door panels...
« on: July 09, 2008, 09:01:37 PM »
Sorry for this total newb question, but what's the best way to remove door panels without damage? It seems like I could just give 'em a yank and they'd be off, but that always seems like it would damage the fasteners.

I'm trading my existing ones for a part this weekend as well as buying an all "new" interior, including replacement door panels. Just need to know how best to get the panels to their new owner without making the FUBAR.

There are a few DIYs out there.  First unscrew the door lock pin and remove, then pop out the mirror adjuster switch and blank panel on the passenger door with a small flathead screwdriver and remove the screw in there.  Then remove the screws beneath the door handle and armrest.  From there you can pull around the edges and a series of clips will pop out.  Slide the little plastic surround around the door handle (that you pull to open the door) back and it'll pop right off.  Lift the door panel up and out from there.  That's pretty much it.

Much appreciated. I'll try that in the morning. If anything goes wrong I'll certainly hold you completely responsible. :)

Don't forget that it is easier to remove with the window down.

It took me a while, without any insight, to figure out that the door knob unscrews....had the entire panel off in 2 minutes except that for damn door knob....
