Where to buy lightened flywheels!
« on: July 09, 2008, 10:54:11 AM »
I am really interested in buying a lightened flywheel for my 318is!  But problem is i can only find one place which sells them but they 500 pound for it!  The only other place is ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-99-BMW-318is-318i-STAGE-3-CLUTCH-RACING-FLYWHEEL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em63Q2el1177QQhashZitem170236575896QQitemZ170236575896

What do you guys think about the flywheel and clutch on this ebay link?  And also do you know anywhere else that sells lightened flywheels! thanks Dean

I don't think that 500 is too much.  It's a pretty descent price really.  It is not uncomman to pay over 1000 dollars for a steel flywheel and clutch.  It's probably a sachs clutch under another name.  But that's not a bad thing.  Just a little heavy compared to a full race clutch.  Still much lighter than factory.  Sometime you have to pay more for less...  weight that is.  I just bought a similar product myself.  It appears to be similar to the one your looking at and I paid around the same price.  Good luck.

I have not installed it yet.  I should have it in the car once i get the other linkage part needed.  Maybe a couple of weeks.
I will be sure to voice my opinion once I have one! :)

Nice!
If I don't have it done for August 8th than I will shoot myself!  I can't miss the trip to Montreal!!  It's our company getaway.  I do not want to be the one sitting watching everyone else tear up the track while I tear up the lawn chair.:D

What you wan to do is find a e21 323i flywheel which is only 15pounds I think and you can cut it down to 12 or something like that the only difference is you have to use an m20 clutch and the 323i throwout bearing and the m20 starter gear.
