Author Topic: Rear Subframe Installation Woes (Read 2873 times)

Okay, so the rear subframe bushings on the end of the rear trailing arms don't seem to be sucking up in the body opening holes underneath the back end. It seems like the top aluminum that sticks up is caught or something is wrong and not allowing it to move up and snug it into place.

Right now I've only got a thread or two showing at the bottom with the locking nut as far as I can get it. I know it's nut up there far enough and the threads are clean (did that already).

Should look something like this when installed, and definately not this way at the moment:

So, any suggestions on how to get it to look like that?? Anyone else have any problems or blockage at the top? :confused:

I just did mine and one of the old bushings cracked and left a piece in the hole. Several people noted that this often occurs. I managed to ream it out with a drill and get a bolt started in it. After I got the bolt about 5-6 threads into it, I knocked it out from the top with a long punch. There were still some small slivers in the hole that I had to get with small puches and screwdrivers. It looked like the other one came ourt in one piece but it left small slivery pices in the hole also.

hah...funny how I noticed but didn't bother to ask since I thought you hadn't bolted everything back in yet.

Yeah, definitely check the hole for debris from the previous mounts. I had some crap crusted in there that kept the driver's side from going in all the way. I managed to get it out with a flat blade screwdriver & framing hammer. Other than that, just make sure the top of the bushing is properly aligned and going in nice & straight.
