i have a long 1 prong plug ziptied to my rear passenger shock not plugged in to anything! looked under and doesnt go anywear and no its not the brake pad wear thing thats already on! anyone know? btw my car is a 1991 318i 4door manual trans, m42

It most likely was installed by the previous owner...

I don't think manufacturers use zip ties these days. They usually route wires, and hoses with funky little snaps, and clasps, and clips.

The best way to find out what it is, would be to follow the other end of the wire. And if it goes nowhere, then rip it out.

id put money on it being a wear sensor or abs sensor... im 99% sure its the brake pad wear sensor.. but you say its not.. well thats the only plug back there.

ps. stop posting silly topics without photos to back your story..
pss. dont make another one like where you circled nothing on your center console.

and brake pad sensors have 2 prongs.
