central locking dying
« on: June 22, 2008, 03:23:02 PM »
Ok so i picked up a new 91 318 and the central locking is going. the passenger side has to be manually locked or unlocked and today the driver side wouldnt go completely vertical to unlock it. im afraid its going to die any day now. i have a donor 86 ES. would i be able to just switch out the locks on the doors? Any help would be great. its only a few days until i get rid of the es.

you'd have different door and ignition keys. I think it's less the lock than the linkage right?
The trunk lock still unlocks/locks all the doors fine right?
Anyhow, just get a keyless entry system for $25 and install it. Easy and you'll never use a key on the doors again.
