My uncle had a set of tweeters he wasn't using and gave to me and i was hoping to put them in the same place the premium audio tweeters were mounted. The wiring is there already for them but i am not getting sound when i connect my speakers.

Do those wires need to be connected somewhere or did the premium tweeter pods have something like a built in crossover required for sound?

- Forgot to mention that i do not have any of the factory premium 'upgrades' installed in the car.

I don't believe the other end of those wires is hooked up to anything unless you have the premium system.

Yeh - behind the footwell speaker, which is where this wiring terminates, the wires just vanish. real bitch because I have the OEM pods with nice JBL tweeters retro-fitted into them and no way to reach the bloody crossovers!

I really need to just get the wiring through the door loom but that's so tight there's no room.

But how do you get it through the rubber boot which is really tightly bent and not looking to accept any wires through it?

It's definitely a tight fit, but I have 12ga speaker wire running through there, so regular speaker wire should fit just fine. Just takes a lot of finagling.

What are the colors of the tweeter wiring from the pods - and what colors are they once coming from the door into the kick panel area?

oooo... what is the brown wire w/ purple stripe? The reason I ask is I have this wire on both the L & R side of my 318ic behind the kick panels - however, the factory female spade connector on the wire is not connected to ANYTHING within the kick panel, nor can I find any spare or unhooked wires anywhere, not in the kick panel, not going to the A-pillar and nothing in the wiring harness along the rocker...??

Brown/purple wire is the ground for the door switches - when you open the door and the lights turn on, that is the wire that grounds the lights so they can come on.

The stock tweeter wiring is gray/green and green/yellow to the C404 (passenger) and C405 (driver) connectors. Those are the big, rubber encased plugs where the door wiring goes. From there, gray/green stays that color to the woofer, and green/yellow stays the same to the C406 (passenger) and C407 (driver) connectors. Those are single-wire connectors located somewhere around the woofers. Passenger side then becomes 2 gray/brown wires (out of that single-wire connector), driver side becomes two gray/violet wires out of that single-wire connector.

EDIT: In fact, you can see the passenger side stock tweeter wires exiting that plug in the picture I took. The side of the connector facing you, at the top edge.
