If it helps any, H&R color codes all of their springs in the following manner:

1) H&R Race Springs = red
2) H&R Sport Springs = black
3) H&R Super Sport Springs = blue
4) H&R "OE" Springs = gray (or very light blue)

The part #'s for each will vary based on make, model & year of vehicle.  You can jump onto H&R's site and look up the vehicle and it should give you a reference of what part # springs are applicable to that vehicle:

H&R color codes their springs based on ride height & spring rate - other than that, part #'s will be specific to whatever vehicle they were intended to be used on.

Are there any other numbers/stampings on the springs in the above picture other than what is shown in the pic you supplied?  If there are, have the seller tell you what they are because if I am correct, H&R stamps all of their springs w/ specific part #'s...



I will tell you this - I am running the H&R Race springs (red) on my Cobra and they are a very STIFF spring.  You can press down on the vehicle at any corner and there is hardly any "rebound".  These are very good springs, however, for daily driving and due to NJ roads (some are good some are laden w/ imperfections) - they are not a comfortable spring even when integrated w/ the Bilsteins and other aftemarket suspension components I am using.  For road racing/auto crossing purposes, they surely would be a great spring.  I will be swapping them out for a set of H&R Super Sport Springs (blue) which have a lower spring rate for front & rear.

he said they were for the earlier 4cyl. No other part numbers form what I can see, I asked for better pics. He said there were no other numbers.

H&R Race Springs (reds) will drop the vehicle 1.5"-1.75" (and even more than 1.75" IF removing any applicable spring isolators or running a lower profile tire).

Every vehicle is different as well when it comes to manufacturing tolerances.  You could have two of the same exact vehicles side by side w/ the same exact suspension components and one may sit slightly higher or lower than the other...

I would say anything more than a 1.5" drop is just putting the exposed factory oil pan in jeopardy (again, depending on local road surfaces & driving style).

If I got them I'd leave the spring pads in. Without knowing what the rates are it makes it hard to buy with confidence. I don't want low and soft.

Based on the H&R application guide I think they are e36 318is springs.

No race springs listed for the e30, but there are for e36 4cyl applications.

You can't know without the part number.

Hey Cobra, I would want to see your car in person sometime, to gauge how much I should drop my car.  I was set on h&r sports with bilstein sports.  Where in south Jersey are you from?  I'm in Marlton/Cherry Hill.

How much would you pay for 29664's?

I really need shocks but was thinking of picking up springs. I've read of some people getting springs for $100 but I've never seen used prices that low.

most used aftermarket spring sets such as Eibach's or H&R's, expect to pay at least $150 for them (sometimes shipping is included, sometimes it's in addition to the seller's asking price).

If the price is upwards of $200+, just buy new, because most new spring sets are just around the $250+ mark...

Were you referring to the Mustang or 318?

Just to clarify - the H&R Race Springs I have are installed on my Cobra, not the 318ic.  The 318ic is still 100% stock all around...
