Just thought I would post up some Pics of my E30 318is. It's a Pre Production car which was owned by BMW Press Cars UK Ltd. I'm from Northern Ireland by the way. Love this site its great for diagnosing the famous idle problems.

Welcome from the UK :D
Looked to see if there was any Is's on PistonHeads.com today, and i found 4(!) after searching though 100 3-series pages, totalling about 1050 E30's and E36's! Our cars are getting silly rare in the UK - with the last count being about 900 actually registered on the road. In such a case - im glad youre keeping it as a garage queen, it will be a true collectors item if kept stock and mint!
Happy forum-ing! :D
Scott

Hi letsplay,

I remember reading in BMW Car that the E30 318is was getting rather rare and increasing in value. I think what happened was when they became an 'old' car rather than future classic they dropped to a price level where the buyers tended to be 19-20 year olds with no appreciation for the cars. Alot where run into the ground with lack of maintenance due to cost while the rest ended up, upside down in fields or having their diffs explode in McDonalds Car parks. Not suggesting all 19-20 are like this though, mainly the citroen saxo/ rice boy brigade.

Hey!
Yeah, that would make sense alot I guess. I see a lot of E30 owners about, though very few IS ones (ive only ever seen a 320IS here in oxford) due to its rareity perhaps. But no young IS owners. Im 21 myself, very lucky to have the IS, but I dont treat it badly at all.
The E30 has a bit of a stigma of being a chav car, so the more I act sensibly the roads, the more I hope I people change their perception :)

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately the MTECH spoiler was already fitted by a previous owner, I have sourced down an original so thats coming off, if anyone wants and MTECH 2 spoiler in Brilliant red let me know.

I know what you mean about the Chav stigma, lots just want it for its car park drift abilities. Didn't mean to cause offence to anyone who is 19-20 it's just here in UK we have a group called Chavs who hang out in car parks with neon lights etc etc and alot of e30 is's fell into their hands.

Yeah, its hshame the E30 reputation has been crushed by the chavs. Hopefully they'll move onto the E36 :p

Did you guys get a different interior from europe? Here, we got this:
