Axle play = suspension bump?
« on: April 21, 2008, 07:56:17 PM »
I have new HR 50404-55 springs and Bilstein shocks on the rear of my m42 (probably 13k miles on them, or 4 mos :-P).  Over the last month or so, the right rear has developed a thump, and I can feel it bounce on a hard highway hit.  The other corners are fine.

I crawled under it for a quick look and noticed the right axle when slid into the hub hit hard, but when slid towards the diff, it was cushoined.  The left side felt cushioned on each end.

The boots look good, and other than the trailing arm bushings (couldnt really see them), everything looked ok.

The Bilsteins are new bc the right rear was popped when I bought it, so I decided to raise it up with new springs.  The new shock is still good, but there is definitely some play somewhere that I have not found.  I dont think I have any alignment issues as the tires dont show anything wierd, and they have about 10k on them.

It is a high mileage car, and my dedicated daily driver.  I would appreciate some opinion so I know what to look for on Pelican :)

I really enjoy the car, and this site.
