She gave her life for mine this morning. My loyal car for the past 4 years is totaled :(.

Let explain just how safe and tough these cars really are. I was on my way to school this morning, minding my own business cruising in the middle lane of I-80 doing about 70mph whn a larve yukon cut me off from the right lane. I slammed on my brakes (locking them up) and when i let off the brakes i went into a spin (she might have clipped my front bumper). i was on a really sketchy downhill right hand turn and i spun 180 degrees into the center divide, then spun another 180 degrees, i corrected the spin.....still traveling at around 40mph, threw it in third and tried to chase the Bi**** down, of course she ran. i was doing about 85mph with massive vibration before i decided i was not going to catch her or get her plate number. i pulled off the freeway and while inspecting all the damage i noticed one of my tie rods had snaped clear off!. i was doing 85mph with only one wheel steering , just glad i pulled off the freeway before causing another accident. so the rear window is still intact, it popped out of the frame, the rear qaurter panel is just inialated, front right fender also, both wheels massivly bent etc... both doors still open fine, along with the trunk and the hood, and the sunroof.....one tough car surviving a collision with a cement center divide at 70mph!

Anyways it sucks, still deciding if i want anoth E30 or if im gonna upgrade to an E36 M3.....or maybe an older 7 series. Dont have picks yet but i assure you they will be posted soon.

Sorry to hear about that.  Glad to hear you are okay.  I bet the lady didn't even realize what happened, probably on the cell phone too.

Check Craigslist - there is one in the Seattle area but don't know how clean it was. It might have issues. Asking price was $2300.

Near Sacramento, CA, the CHP was cool, the first thing he said is that i need to get rid of my euro plate (not legal in CA...had it for 4 years without getting busted :p), he said unless she turns herself in they cant do anything, i had a witness but that does not do me anygood without the suspect. oh well.

I probabally would not be typing this if where in a bigger car, or suv....i definetly would have rolled, oh and my "is" front lip spoiler is in the center divide shoulder.....need to go get that tonight .

Dang, Sorry to hear man. Looks a lot like the damage that was done to my car when I hit a off ramp guard rail at 65. They are tough little cars.

I hope you get back in another e30 though. I know there for a little while I was dwindling the idea of just getting a bone stock clean 328is (e36) or an e36 m3 but after much thought and love for the lil' 318is I'm back on a hunt for one in the Midwest.

I'm sure being on the coast you'll be able to find one fairly quick!

Its too bad you didn't get plate numbers

Glad you're okay.  Here's a couple of real cheap donor/receiver cars in SF to check out.
