btw, i have only a few mods on my 4dr 318i and i can easily wax most any civic, integra...especially the revvy crx's

Time for an update...the timing chain job is obviously done, and all my problems are solved =)  My only problem I have now is that my brake pads were so worn, that the wear sensor's wires got cut, so I bought another and I've just been waiting for a good day to do it.  On a side note, the spring that gives tension to the clutch is squeaky, but there's nothing I can do about that with my trusty WD40

What I've Done:
- snagged some decals from BavAuto
- Purchased a lovely AC Schnitzer Decal
- Purchased a new shift knob insert, a great improvement in appearance, and relatively cheap (~$10.00)
- Purchased a new Aluminum AC Schnitzer Shift Knob
- Purchased a new Aluminum AC Schnitzer Emergency Brake Handle
- Purchased a new set of AC Schnitzer Aluminum Pedals (including Dead Pedal)
- Upgraded from 89 octane to 93 (feels much better)
- Purchased ATE Slotted Rotors and Hawk HPS Street Pads
- Re-painted the lower rocker panels, grills, side bumpers

Soon to Come:
- BMW Short Shift Kit
- Replace brake pad wear sensor
- Find another Foglight (I have a total of 3, but 2 have cracked lenses)
- Purchase some nice Ellipsoids

Have a total now of 4 offers to buy my car when it's clearly not for sale.  I love my car!

And this happened, just Friday when I took her home:

Maureen- "Oh my gosh, aren't you worries that your car is making these noises?"
Me- "What noises?"
Maureen- "The RPMs keep going whenever you hit that thing!"
Me- "Are you serious!? I'm shifting gears! They all do that!"
Maureen- "What!? It sounds like you're about to take off from the planet!"

My e30 = my lil rocketship.

Also, finally determined where my oil leak is coming from, in a very nicely irritating spot.  It's coming from a gasket located between the upper and lower timing cases, but it's not the one I replaced during the timing chain job (will post pics), it's on the other side of the timing case, next to the engine block.

Wish I realized this when I had everything apart.  Now I'd need to take out all the timing components and the other side of the upper timing case to get at it, or something ridiculous like that.  Damn my forgetfulness.

Been a while since an update, so here we go.

Havent done much to her, but I've determined the source of my rear knocking noise: the lack of exhaust hangers!  So it was only hangin on by the header bolts and basically the muffler bracket, so everytime I took a right, it kept banging into the bottom of the car, and I thought it was a suspension part for the longest time..  

But anyway, I've upgraded to an e36 325i steering rack, used, for $75 with tie rod ends.  Still leaks a couple drops, likely from a missing crush washer (my bad!), but only a drop here and there.  Oil leak still present, and a brand new radiator!

Just ended my rim search short of rims.  Instead, I will spend my money on something that really matters; Mark D chip here I come!  Or if a nice suspension comes along, I'll hit that up

A bit more of an update,

Car has been off the road since late August for school.  It'll be hittin the road again shortly, though unfortunately on snow covered roads.  Breaks my heart, but I have no choice.

Decided to toss the broken center caps back on, and hope they stay on when the sheels start turnin :)



And the most annoying rust spot ever.  I've sanded the paint down twice already, painting it with a rust destroyer/preventor, and tossing on some BMW touch-up paint.  Takes no time at all for it to re-appear.  This time it happened while only sitting.  Sanded/painted this spot and waxed the car right before I tossed the cover on, and...





God help me.  Save my car

Installed a z4 3.0 shift arm.  Haven't gotten to drive it yet but I love it.  One thing is that it sits REALLY close to the driveshaft.  There's no contact as far as I can tell though.  A SSK is a great upgrade

Hah, I never noticed that nobody else had that!  Sadly, I can't take credit for that.  One of the 2 previous owners must've done it.  

Funny, cuz one of the previous owners couldn't manage to figure out why the e-brake button was disappearing (the handle was sliding off), made his own button out of wood, and drilled a screw into the wood through the handle to hold it in place.  Then when I bought the car, the owners could not, for the life of them, figure out why the handbrake wouldn't stay on (the handle slid back on and the wooden button was holding the real button down)!  Not to mention the blue-purple tint..  But this, I like :)

It was 78 today, FINALLY, so the e30 IS BACK!  First it got some goodies:
- keyless entry
- wheel lock ($13, what the hell...)
- painted headlight rings
- painted spoiler
- UUC delrin shift carrier bushings
- new exhaust hanger
- new rear shift carrier support bushing
- aluminum interior goodies put back on (vs stock)
- fresh rubber
- fixed worst rust spot
