Need Help With These Rims
« on: April 01, 2008, 07:38:13 PM »
I am loving these Helo HE825 rims, but I'm not so sure they would work on my 91 318is?  When I went to tirerack to see what they would look like on it, they didn't have the brand Helo.  I checked some different sites, and came across one or two that had these rims, but they weren't listed in the choices when I searched for rims by model.

http://www.streetdreams.org/wheels/rims/Helo/HE825/Black%20with%20Machined%20Lip

I would like to know whether they would work or not, which sizes and bolt patterns would work, if any.  I would also like to hear your opinion of these sexy rims, and if you think they would fit the styling of my stock alpine, and what size you think would look best.

Opinions of others are important to me :D

i think these wheels look better on an alpine e30, the Helo would look nicer on an acura

if you post a picture of the wheel and your car maybe someone will have the time to photoshop it for you

Those Helo wheels look ghetto to me.  I'd look for 15x7 size.

Ok, what are those rims on that m3?  Oh, do you guys think most black with a machined lip style rims would be unfit for an alpine 318is?  That style gets me for some reason, which I think is overtaking my ability to choose the CORRECT rims.

You need rims that have about 20-28mm offset, a 57.1mm center bore, and bolt holes spaced at 4x100mm. Spacers can solve some of the offset and center bore issues, but require longer than stock lug bolts. The first option that I saw at the link to the Helo wheels was 16" with a 76-something bore and 42mm offset. That would require 15mm hubcentric spacers and lug bolts 15mm longer than stock.

Check out this link for another option - great price, nice looking wheel, deep dish, light weight, proper spacing, bore and bolt pattern. Makes me wish I hadn't bought the BBS RX wheels last fall...

also, on top of being undecided about the style of rims, but i ALSO dont know what color to get them in.  BMW silver because that usually gives it a good look, black with a machined lip because of the front lip being black as well as the bottom sides under the door, or gold to match the stripe running down the side

To see the black:

To see the gold stripe:

The stripe might appear grayish?  i don't know.....some of u should know what it looks like in person, that's the best i can do at the moment.

With white, to me, silver or dark silver (gunmetal) always looks best. IMNSHO.

Hey well I photoshopped the rims in the GB on the other forum, they look all right, but they only had gold in the photos.

And it lowered just a bit.

I think the rims looks pretty good! (maybe a silver or gunmetal center though)

I'll see what I can do, but if its not mounted in front of anything (Like a brake) it doesn't look as good, but if you find a wheel that is I'll work on it for you.

There you go, you get the Idea, but do you see what I'm saying? There's just a huge white space, it looks better if you find a picture that the rim is mounted to something. And I ran out of time and couldn't do the other, sorry I'll work on it later if you want.

god ur good with photoshop...i tried that and failed 100%...not that it matters, bbs rx style rims look really good on the e30, so thats what i've decided to go with...or anything similar (those custom rims in the group buy, or ASA AS1's...whatever is cheaper :)) in reg silver if i cant get them in BMW silver....i'd get BMW silver just to keep the heritage, hehehe....would like to see those other rims that swiss318is posted though :D
