will a 1985 rear end fit?

in my car now is a open 4.10 and i wanted lsd and a little better on the highway. so i found a local 1985 323i parts car i was just wondering whats in it for a rear end? and will it fit my 1991 318is?

all e30 rear ends "fit" all e30's.
there are small-case and large-case units out there but they're interchangeable.

That 323i could have anything.  You'll have to read the tag.

I have a 91 318is and i attempted to put in a 4.10 lsd and its a medium case and it dosn't fit everything lines up except the damn driveshaft.  I guess mine i just some freak but they didn't make the car that long and i've read of other people doing it with no probs.  Good luck and keep us posted on this.

did you adjust the driveshaft with the locking collar? It should fit.
It\'s not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

I have to admit, the first time I did a diff swap I thought there was a problem.  The driveshaft couldn't reach the diff by about half an inch.

Then I realized the driveshaft is two-piece, that the two pieces come together with a slip-on splined connection.  Just needed to pull it out a little.
