This might be an old topic but from a different approach. I have read from several members description of their car and the MOD they've done one in particular is they used #19 Ford fuel injectors. What are #19 injectors? I also read about a 318i with M10 used Mustang GT injectors for the higher flow and pressure. What year of Mustang are the injectorsr? I can only assumed that it would be for the GT. Does anyone have a part number for the Ford injectors them they can share.

I want to try to do this MOD on my car. The other reason is: sometime back my 1984 318i was having some acceleration problem I thought it was the injectors. Well just to see if it was a friend who had a E30 VERT had injectors removed from his engine and preserved for future use. I installed four of those on the 84 318i for trouble shooting. Of course it didn't fix the problem I was trying to fix. what it did was, I think it made the car ran better. Any given day I don't need to up shift to the fifth gead to cruise at 50-60 mph and if I do the car is hard to accelerate, something like when you are on too high of a gear when you are at a slower speed. When I do down shift to fourth the car response great and rev it up pass 65-70 before I shift up to fifth.

Mustang injector Bosch part #0280 150 556 for years 1986 to 1995 5.0 liter engines or Ford part #FOTE-D5B.

I am using an equivalent from a 1993 Ford Crown Vic Bosch part #0280 150 943. These were just installed so the jury is still out on performance and economy.

I haven't found a flow chart for injectors that I completely trust, they all seem to give different flow characteristics. However, they seem to be in the general ballpark as the original Bosch part # 0280 150 714. I'm not looking for power gains really, I had a couple injectors that leaked and were giving me stumbling problems on warm starts. I am looking to find a cheaper solution than the purchase of OEM 714's and I dont want to rob the ones off of the backup motor I have in my garage.

Yes, I've read up on the subject here and elswhere. The reason I went with the 0280 150 943's were because on some flow charts they were nearly identical to stock. 0280 150 943's 225cc @ 3 bar vs 230cc @ 3 bar for 0280 150 714's. Not all charts were giving the same numbers so I guess I'm guessing a bit, educated I hope. I've run about a 100 miles on them so far and the car seems to be running fine. By the way, 943's are also the 4 pintle design and physically indentical so no washers or any of that stuff are necessary. The coil resistance is slightly different 15 ohm vs 16.5 ohm but this should be negligible.

From everything I've read, the stock "0280 150 714" fall in the 18-19# range at 3 bar.

They are also yellow which confirms the 18-20# range. If they were 230cc, they would have to be dark blue or black. Theres nothing wrong with 230cc injectors in this engine if you decide to open up the intake a bit, but I don't think thats a stock size. Some BMW sites list these injectors as 230cc at 4 bar because thats the pressure some later engines used.

OK, what ever flow rate they have is what I want to match or get as close as I can. What I'm saying here is that from some charts the flow reates are different from other flow charts. 230cc for the 714's was the highest flow that I saw but it was also the highest rate that I saw for the 943's as well. It's not that I believe that they are that high it's that they are comparable to each other.http://www.injectorcleaning.co.uk/flow.htm from your second link, shows that they are identical at 200cc @ 3 bar. That is the "bingo" I'm looking for.

The same injector will have different flow rates depending on what pressures is used to check it. As an example look at these 24lb injectors
(F5DE-B5A -- 280-155-715)

* 24.38 LB/HR AT 43.5 PSI
* 25.61 LB/HR AT 48 PSI
* 26.13 LB/HR AT 50 PSI
* 27.41 LB/HR AT 55 PSI

All the chart testing data that I've found shows that they were either tested at 3 bar or 43.5 psi which are the same. That would appear to be a standard.

After a week of running these injectors, Bosch# 0280 150 943 I ended up with 346 miles on 13 gallons of fuel. That puts the mpg @ about 26.6. I was getting about 24 mpg just prior to the swap, conditions were appx 75% highway. I didn't notice any measurable difference with respect to power, maybe a slight increase in pep. I'm about due for new plugs and air filter, so I might be able to get my mpg up a bit more. I believe I have an effective, safe alternative to the originals at pennies on the dollar at the local pick n pulls, a plentiful supply at that.

very informative topic, i need to get new injectors (wont pass CA smog) and i dont want to spend $62 per injector, thanks for the links. i think i will use the "943"s. Two of my injectors are running rich (24mpg freeway.....ya it sucks!).

Another thing i might ad: Larger higher flow injectors are not neccesarily benificial, the O2 sensor will see that the car is running rich and lean out the fuel supply (i think it does it by changing the length of the pulse....im not quite sure) but at any rate you will see the same fuel flow, they are however benificial if you will be doing further mods in the future (cams, chip, intake work etc...).

With 6 months on the 0280 155 700 injectors, the car is averaging between 29-32mpg in mixed city highway driving on every tank. My best all highway tank was 35mpg and my worst was 28mpg with lots of second gear up hill abuse. I'm also using 3.64 diff, manual steering and electric cooling fan for what its worth. This is on 87 gas when the air temp is below 70f. I use 89 above 70f.
