e36 handbrake console
« on: March 19, 2008, 03:09:52 PM »
My handbrake console is broken so I was doing research and seen something very interesting on ebay.

It's an E36 handbrake console with armrest and cupholders and if your lucky might have a leather boot with it. They say it can fit in our E30s but i wanted to know if anyone has tried this yet?

I'm curious to know too how it would "fit"...  I wonder what type of modifications need to be done in order to make it work?

Actually the posting says it will fit 92-98 2 and 4 door cars.  It doesn't say it will fit the e30.

But now you've got us wondering. Can it be that big a deal to fit it?  For the most part it just bolts to the tunnel. The parking brake seems similarly placed. Maybe if its longer you'd have to cut the front edge to match it up. The trouble with an arm rest version is that its going to have to be more securely mounted than a non arm rest console. I'd actually be more interested in the 95-98 console with the cup holders.

I wouldn't test it with a $100 one off ebay, but if your local pick n pull has an e36 in stock its probably less than $10 for the part.

Let us know if you attempt it.

People have done it on r3vlimited and e30tech. The console is a bit too wide, but other than that it is pretty good.

Are there any pics of this "mod"?  I'm curious to see how it was fitted in place of the original console.
