I moneyshifted the M42 today
« on: May 05, 2006, 05:38:35 PM »
I was getting on the freeway and I went from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th.  oops!  I was traveling at 65 mph so that means my motor might have seen close to 7800RPM for a breif moment.

Runs fine luckily.

My friend almost money shifted my M3.  We were on the highway (travelling quiet fast) and I said "Bring it up to 140!" and he looked at me and put the car in 4th.  The RPMs spiked up to the redline area but luckily we weren't going quite fast enough to do any damage.

Scary feeling, huh!

Once at Texas World Speedway in the late 80's we were running a GT1/TransAm car. The driver had brain fade and downshifted form 5th. to 4th. at 180 MPH. The car humped up enough to see the frame from the rear and made this big vacuum cleaner sound. The rods were bent and stretched. Amazingly the motor still ran good enough for a 45 mile race but it had a slight vibration. I've had brain fade myself a few times but there's no need to go into that.
