How about another sub forum called "interior"?
« on: February 28, 2008, 09:28:30 PM »
I was just wondering what everyone thought about the site possibly having or adding another sub forum under "DISCUSSION" called "Interior"?  The forum would be specific to all types of interior mods, upgrades, fixes, additions, deletions, HVAC related, stereo related, R&R of certain interior components, etc...

Yay or nay?

I don't think there is much to it.

i went back on bimmerforums after a few months off of it and realized how disorganized they are. i'd see no harm to a sub section called interior. the better its organized the more we can get out of this forum

i say yay

Funny, I keep thinking I go there less and less.
It really just does not work for us m42 guys anymore.

That place was great for me when I first got my car but now I feel like I don't belong there. It is a good place for the most part, it just does not work well for me anymore.

I am not tossing out the interior idea just yet. I would like to hear more peoples thoughts. I hate having dead forums is the problem.

I'm for it - there are some topics that just don't fit well anywhere else. Carpet, for example, or headliners, or seats, or door panel mods, or...    :)

Nay, just put it with appearance.

It wouldn't get enough play.

I think if opening up an Interior forum it would get a decent amount of "play".  The reason I brought it up was because "appearance" to me is more or less about how a vehicle looks (exterior, wheels, tinting, paint color, shadow lining, lowered, headlight upgrades, tailight upgrades, removal of roundels, ground effects, carbon hoods, fiberglass components, wings, lips, etc, etc)...

An interior forum would surely separate such tech related threads from "appearance" such as:

headliner R&R
sunroof R&R
window motor R&R
sunroof motor R&R
seat R&R
carpet R&R
convertible top R&R
stereo/audio/radar detector R&R
upholstery R&R
seat fixes
carpet dying
carpet cleaning
dash fixes
dash R&R
heater core R&R
blower motor R&R
HVAC control issues
speedo upgrades (cluster overlays)
speedo R&R
speedo repairs
dash illumination/bulb replacement
OBC upgrades, fixes, mods, light bar, etc
check control module
steering wheel R&R
steering wheel control stalk R&R
headlight switch R&R
upgrade to foglight switch
installation of aftermarket gauges
door card/panel R&R
speaker install/upgrades/removal
convertible top alignment
weather strip fixes or R&R
window switch upgrades or R&R
center console R&R
shifter upgrades
rear view mirror upgrades
rear deck removal (for those w/ coupes & sedans)
rear panel R&R

I could list more, but there's the general idea of what could and can be covered as far as interior tech...  :)

Maybe rename the "Appearance" forum to "Appearance & Body" or "Exterior"... or leave it as is and just insert an Interior forum.  :)

I applaud this quote from Cobra Jet ""appearance" to me is more or less about how a vehicle looks (exterior, wheels, tinting, paint color, shadow lining, lowered, headlight upgrades, tailight upgrades, removal of roundels, ground effects, carbon hoods, fiberglass components, wings, lips, etc, etc)...".  The love we have for our cars reside deep with-in our heart's, because we wouldn't have that love being on this site.  Our cars should be considered our private canvas, so we could create the one picture that we want to eventually share with other enthusiest with the pride of knowing that you have created a work of artchitectural bliss with your exterior and interior to the best of your ability.  This is the way we all should love our cars...
