E30 racecar - do i need the rubber guido??
« on: February 25, 2008, 03:46:32 PM »
I am installing a m42 in my e30 325 racecar, since i am moving the engine a bit backwards, the 318 propeller shaft is a bit too long, the 325 - too short!

so what if i threw the rubber guido away, and boltet the shaft directly to the output flange of the gearbox?

Not good idea, something will brake if you do like you say. Theoretically if you mount engine and gearbox on solid aliuminium blocks instead of rubber it is posible, but cars boddy is not rigid enough and it is imposible to align propshaft and gearbox.

Have you tried to adjust the lenght of the propshaft and center mount?
