M42 head onto M44?
« on: February 19, 2008, 05:54:42 AM »
Guys,

I have searched high and low and cannot come up with an answer for this question.
Can an M42 head be fitted to an M44 block and run on an M42 computer?

I have a line on a good short block for $100 and thought it might be a good upgrade if my bottom end dies.  I have to let the guy know in the next day or two.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Cristian

Crankshaft Position Sensor is different on the M44. It might not work with the M42 Computer.

I'm pretty confident the the M42 head fits on the M44 bottom. I will do this myself next winter.
M44 crank sensor works with the M42 ECU, the cam sensor doesn't. I currently run my M44 with a M42 ECU and cam sensor, works just fine. You might want to tune it to make sure it doesn't run lean.
