well guys just took it up last thursday and hopfully in a couple weeks it will done   with a nice new coat of alpina white its been a long going process but it will pay  off when its done I am so sick of driving my grand cherokee it just isn't the same  here are some pics of some of the on going body work I will post more as it goes  on

Gawd, I hate sanding!  :rolleyes:   I've been doing that pretty much all day in my engine bay, with the exception of some grinding off surface rust with my cool new Dremel.  

Are you just doing the prep or are you painting it yourself too.  A good painter with the right equipment is probably worth the investment.  The other thing your should do, is remove the windshield (probably a good time to replace the gasket and glass too) and either remove or repaint the black trim around the window surrounds.  

Good luck.  Take some detailed pics of the painting process as well as the final result.  I'm tired of driving my Chevy truck too!

I am just doing the grunt work I got lucky and my uncle knows how to do body work and paint he has done it work 36 years for General Motors but just went up   tonight to do some more sanding and by sat it should hopfully be in primer so I will post some pics when it is

well finaly got a coat of paint on it today the pics aren't the greatest but you guys will get the just of it.  By next week it will be in paint I  can't wait!

I was going to but they were faded and kind of scuffed-up and I didn't feel like spending another $200 to replace them and I don't think they look bad painted the same color of the car thats just my opion

if you're only at the primer stage, tape them off and repaint them black after you're done with the car...

fyi: the bumpers come off in about 2 minutes, if you have a T-55 socket... also, it is very difficult to get the bumper trim off without cracking the tabs... just tape it off and repaint it black... white cars love the contrast

I tried taking the bumpers off but I ended up breaking 2 sockets so thats when I said to hell with it and painting all of it

well its finaly done doesn't look to bad for a back yard job and costing me next to nothing. There is a few little spots that i am going to redo later in the year still have to wet sand in a few weeks to realy get the shine out of her and finish getting the trim back on. To add to things on my way home with it the intake gasket desided to go so as of right now thats all tore apart and waiting for parts to come in thur and friday but as of this friday night it should be back up and on the road for sure

Mechanically after this weekend it should be good I am putting new intake gaskets in it tomarrow and a few vacume lines and it should be like new again.

Since I have owned the car I have put in a new clutch, rear wheel bearings, rearend, front control arm bushings, tires, brakes, timming chain, tensioner and guide rails due to the orignal one started to slap a bit but for 240,000 miles on it I can't complain one bit I realy don't have alot into it but do time I will with a few mods and what not.

Looks good for a budget job.  I suck at body and paint work. Get the rockers and rear apron back in black and the contrast will look great.  I have to agree with Dude8383.
