Fuel Pressure
« on: February 06, 2008, 07:00:16 PM »
Hi everyone,
With spring approaching, I am planning out my M42 swap into an E21.  I will be most likely going with an aftermarket fuel pump/system as opposed to retrofitting an E30 pump to my car because I would like to do a fuel cell eventually, if not initially, and my current fuel system is faulty. I did a search and it didn't really answer my questions so I'm wondering what kind of aftermarket systems are available and what sort of pressure and/or volume the M42 is looking for.

Thanks,
AJ

M42 Swap a success!...so far:rolleyes:

I would make a custom fuel rail.  Extruded aluminum fuel rail stock is pretty cheap and if you have access to a mill it is pretty simple and you can run whatever lines/regulator you want.

I'll look into it. I already have to replace all the hard lines, and a friend suggested running alum fuel lines as well. What sort of pressure is the system looking for though (so I can get an idea of what kind of regulator or accumulator to buy)?

Thanks!

The stock M42 system uses a 3BAR fuel pressure (45PSI).
