Any ideas? I'm out of em...
« on: February 05, 2008, 09:27:08 AM »
here is the scenerio. I was installing an aftermarket electric fan on my 92/94 318I. I say that because its a 94 motor and harness in a 92 car.

I grabbed my test light, tested some positive wires while the car was running, then retested them while the car was off.

Then I went to restart it and The fuel pump doesnt get power, neither does the coil.

I tried 3 different DME's. Traced all the wires that I tested, all fine.

I took the covers off of all of the relays, and checked all of the fuses in the box. All fine.

It wont be the sensors because there is no spark at all, and the fuel pump doesnt get power. The ALT is working...

Is there a fuseable link in a 92/94? I cant find one?

I dont think this model has a anti theft either...IM at a loss...

Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated...

Thanks

As long as there is no spark, there is no fuel. If the ECU detects no spark it will not give power to fuel pump either because it would drown the engine with gas.

Thanks Guys, I found it. There is a fuseable link that comes off of the battery about two feet in. Just behind the back seat, in the trunk compartment. Snipped it out, replaced with a another fuse, fired right up.

Good info.

Cheers

HAH.....Thats why I chose it. Although I didnt know it was a real word.

In 1995, I needed to come up with an email address for yahoo...yeah, it was around back then...So, Since I am a bicycle mechanic, I decided to take the first part of velocipede and the first part of mechanic....Thats hilarious to me its an actual slang word meaning that...wow.
Thanks for the info bro.

Anyhoo, cheers and beers
