Group Buy of DASC any1?
« on: February 04, 2008, 05:19:40 PM »
Hi guys
looked at 318ti.org and saw that that the once had a group buy for DASC kits, and they managed to get a really good price.
now - im not a from US, but im sure they wont mind getting my money via Paypal,
any1 want to try and organize such thing?

prices for M42 engines should go around 3400$, i think that for about 2800-3000$ can really get ppl to buy those SC...

what do u think?

I would definitely be intereseted in too.
The only thing is; Does DA really produced a kit for e30 m42's? Did they really prepared a kit with appropriate belt system for e30's, remote brake fluid tank, and did they do anything (i.e. different injectors or different fuel regulator) with the fuel starvation problem for our cars?
If they did I beleive it should more expensive than e36 kits due to extra parts... I don't live in US either so someone from US should give them a call (please).
Anyway even if it is thad expensive I'm still interested... Hopefully this will happen...

From everything I have read, the kit is not yet available and may never be due to a high rpm lean condition that cannot be solved with the M42 motor.  Too bad, as the DASC kit was one of the main reasons I bought an E30 318is.

The lean running has been solved using bigger injectors. I don't remeber the link...sorry.

I have read tha DASC kit has been revently discontinued. Apparently the supercharger model they used went out of production and they did not feel like modifying the kit for different model.

No DASC kit

I called Downing Atlanta the other day to confirm or deny the existence, or future existence of their SC kit for the E30.  Talked to Jim Goodroe himself, who is the SC guy there.

He told me the SC kit is a NO GO, due to a supercharger vendor (not Eaton, don't remember what company he referenced) no longer supplying units.  DASC would have to re-tool and charge ALOT more, so they made a business decision to give it up.

Too bad.  I was looking forward to it.

Are you referring to the grassroots e30 project? If so, the problem is actually due to fuel pump rather than injectors.
