There's a trip I'd like to join in Oct, I have a new engine to fit and run in if I'm going to make it in mine by then so may have to psgr! I've also been having evil thoughts about swapping to an e36 chassis.

I'm planning trip to Nurburgring this fall in my E36 318is to earn the Ring sticker for this car, maybe we can have a M42Club EuroCon :D

I was there some years ago and they did have different E36 racer on display then, propably from 1994 season. This one has later standardized aero package so it must be 1995 or later model. If I could just remember when Goldeneye was a new film...

sounds good to me. What dates are you thinking? Have you track driven any e30s? need... input... input!!
http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6190
must decide what to do in the next few weeks as pistons, HG and rod bolts are somewhere in the atlantic at present, and as soon as they land it will be straight into the engine builders, so probably 2-3 weeks until engine build time! the e30 has to come apart as I knocked the sump off on monday and have bodged it back on, but is leaking really badly. I can't properly fix it without new upper sump, so might as well wait til engine rebuild!

the nearby town you speak of where those pics are taken is nurburg dude. Did you get any laps in? Only been 3 months since last trip in the 2.1, but already really missing the place. Can't wait to get out there again. There's a trip I'd like to join in Oct, I have a new engine to fit and run in if I'm going to make it in mine by then so may have to psgr! Haha, yes the nearby town was Nürburg.  I guess I had a brain fart when I wrote my last post.

I got in 1 lap on the ring in my 2008 Ford Focus 1.6 rental car haha!  I had a pretty good lap with the exception of when I pulled over slightly to let a honda and some motorcycles pass and the rear of the car slid off the track a little.  Kicked up some dust and the car wobbled around a bit.  But the carousel and some of the ups and downs on the track were amazing.  If I lived closer, I wouldn't hesitate to get a season pass!

Only thing I am kicking myself in the side for was not getting a 'ring sticker.  What's the etiquette on those anyway, does it only apply to the driver or does the actual car the sticker is applied to have to be driven on the ring?

That depends on who you ask :)

For some (like me) the sticker is car & driver combination dependend ie. you must drive the car on Ring to earn the sticker for that car. I have sticker on my M3 and I need to drive 318is there to earn the sticker for that too...

Then there are some that put sticker on their car after they have visited the service station selling them. Most liberal put stickers on their BMW's even if they have never been anywhere near the ring but because the car has been made in germany :D

order it through a friend at dealer... it will cost you a bit, don't remember but wasn't that high... IIRC something like 1000eur to 1500eur as there are different versions from 95 to 97.. as you're there "waste" other 2000-3000eur for the carbon fiber airbox... ah sorry then you need the ITB... but then there is the 5,5kg flywheel that's appealing and then other 2000euros for the crankshaft, and what about those 316'/300' camshafts for 1700eur? every lifter is 100eur, the oil pump is 2000euro, the last evolution exhaust manifold is 4300eur... for 8000-9000eur you should have a full S42 new exhaust ;D

PS.: I don't know if BMW make those parts anymore and a normal man can't buy them, you just need VIP friends (money naturally:)) in there or search in racing teams that use these cars, they have always spares for sale if you ask them :)

prices above where from oem bmw motorsport part catalogue :D
so how much money I wrote there?... mmm maybe with that money I would build an RWD homemade seveneque kitcar (aka locost, caterham lookalike just to give the idea) that weight less than 600kg with the power that I want and LSD and have a lot of fun, with all respect to M42 and S42:D

I wasn't being serious. That car is just sick and I definitely don't have the kind of money it would take to have a car like that!

Ooo la la.  Please do swiss! :D

Did you guys do volumetric or flow efficiency calculations before porting? Or how did you go about deciding on the amount of porting.

Thanks!
