i am interested in racing my e30. i will take some racing lessons as soon as my car is track ready. i would like to know if anyone of you are part of any racing club?

i have found some documentation on local clubs and racing associations but i'm still trying to find a way to get the funds and honestly the 10$/hour i'm making working at the hardware store won't get me far. i'd have to work 4 weeks to pay a weekend of racing. tires/fuel/registration/damages

how can i get into the racing world without selling my soul?

look for autocross events.

Autocross is alot less expensive to get into in most cases.

And there is a lot les risk of damaging your car. Which in turn makes it easier on your pocket. Like pbgd3skier said go autocrossing and make yourself better and then after you feel you have enough autocross see if you are ready financially and skillwise for racing.

I agree with the above posters, I wouldn't go and invest in a complete track setup right away. The autox will help you to improve your skills and learn how to drive the car then i would start modding it as you go.

After that I would suggest doing some drivers schools at tracks and get some instruction. Both of these are pretty good alternatives to all out racing. If that doesn't meet your need for speed build a spec e30.

If you want to race wheel to wheel its going to cost $$ and probably more then your job will provide.

thanks, i have been looking on the internet for auto-x events but haven't found anything local yet. its more of a hyundai ricers-1/4mile paradise around here
if anyone know some events around the montreal area please let me know.
i guess its not the right season either!

follow-up:
i found out that the motorsport club of ottawa holds some auto-x events http://www.mco.org/cms/

also been thinking about rallying http://www.carsrally.ca/CARSRally-Fr/Default.aspx?tabid=90

for this summer auto-x and one or 2 track days will suffice for my need for speed but i plan on building some sort of track car as well

Another option which is cheap and lots of fun is driving on a skidpad. It is great to improve car control skills and learn how your car behaves beyond the limit. The bmw cca offers this and even waters the skidpad to save tires.

just found an e21 for 1000$, offered 400$.
i might start working on it the weekends since i've been cut down on hours at work and slowly build a race/rally car (over 2 years) keep my 318is as daily driver and fun times on tarmac
