hello m42 club,

there is loads of work done and its ready for more power...
looked in to a turbo and m44 swap but i think its going to be the DASC.

is there a link to a full Comprehensive thread on fitting the charger...? i read so many threads and so many different opinions and the majority are valid up to a point and the thread ends up wondering of track, and now i need help decide.

if im correct i can fit the charger to the m42 but the best options for a daily driver are:

change the pullies to later m44... i don't need the A/C pullie.

keep the stock MAF

change the FPR.... to witch FPR i'm unsure. a FPR is supplied with the DASC but is it suitable for m44...

is there fitment issues with the bonnet/hud closing.

But after these is it pretty much plug and play…..!

I have the option to fit a m44 but am a bit nervous  as I’ve never done a swap and think the m42 lump can manage every bit as good.

I’m not looking to boost the shit out of it just run the charger straight  
from DA for my 15min daily drive.

I’m going to order the charger as soon as I clear up as much of this, and any thing else I might be missing . The fit will be done by me on a shoe string budget and will be fitted asap….  Another baby on the way.

...for all the articles in Grassroots Motorsports Magazine (4 or 5 I believe) from mid 2006 to early 2007.  They adapted the DASC kit quite successfully.  You can even go to Grassroots Motorsports website and find a write up on their 318is project car, which is now in the hands of the editor's wife.

There you go, all of the articles are there. (June 2006 issue showes you the basic steps of the supercharger install) If you do go this route take lots of pics and videos!

You will need larger injectors, reprogram of the ECU or a piggyback module or new engine management system and the brake master cylinder will need to be changed or moved. You MIGHT also need a bigger fuel pump and lines.

I do not think they ever completely solved the lean top end issue without changing the computer, which could be part of why we have not been hearing much about it.

I would also be prepared to replace your motor as doing this at home makes it more risky.

Anyone know of anyone besides GRMS who istalled DASC?

The Grassroots Motorsports series on this is very good.  Am still looking to hear from anyone else who has done 'it'.  Hoping to get some confirmation if the results are as good as the article reports.

hello lads,

sorry for late reply.... another 318 came up for sale near me so had to have it... this 3rd 318 has opened up a load of new options... the engine is sweet 110Km on clock and pulls hard at top end... so sarting to think NA might be just as good... these engines can take a pounding.... performance NA parts are eazy enought to find and fit...  so might strip it out and make a light track day bus.... but thats a bit off tread..

moving the master cylinder doesn't sound like fun... has any done this.... a good bit of pipe work...?

the belt pullie change is a must... only pissin around with stock pullies.

rang a guy near me who remaps and rolling road kit and won't touch stock ecu's to hard to flash and more options out there and need to decide on that before deciding the fuel system.....

i think i need to take it back a step and read more on NA and Turbo...

Go standalone! You don't have to move the master cylinder, only the fluid reservoir.
