Oil pump longevity
« on: January 09, 2008, 12:49:06 PM »
How long do the oil pumps last on these cars?  Or is this considered a maintenance item like the timing chain stuff seems to be?

Is this the entire oil pump?  Or are there more parts to it?

thats the entire pump, there is an aluminum housing that it fits in, which tends to crack over time. you wont know if its needed until your in there though...

#3= housing?

Might as well replace all this stuff, eh?

No, #1 tends to crack. Usually when something gets into the pump, but it is pretty thin.

If I'm having the all timing gear replaced chain, gears, rails.... how much extra trouble (hours?) is it to do the oil pump & pressure relief thing?   My M42 is at 195K.

Cheers,
