Help with my rebuild plans
« on: January 01, 2008, 01:18:00 AM »
Alright so my motor is at 227,000 miles on it. I know it is getting old and is going need a rebuild soon.  I am going to buy another motor and build that one so that I can still use my car, and once the rebuild is done I am going to put that motor into the car.  I am having trouble deciding on the specs of the engine internals though.

I am thinking I am going to use an M44 crank for the slightly longer stroke. If I do this, can I use stock pistons or am I going to have to use custom ones.

Cams.  What's the stock cam spec?  I searched and couldn't find anything.

Since the motor is going to be out, I am going to do the M20 flywheel swap.  That should free up some weight.

Intake manifold.  What should I do with this?  Port and polish?

This is going to be my first engine build, so I am going to have A LOT of questions, and well...you guys are super knowledgable.
