Well I live in Florida and I picked up my '91 318is from my sisters neighbor.  He wasn't taking care of the car at all and thats how I got it.  I figured I could work on it and restore it over sometime but I was in an accident with my daily driver so I had to start driving it alot sooner then anticiapated.  It had all kinds of issues when I got it that prevented it from running or running properly, but I worked through (most of) them.  I fell even more in love with the car when I realized that dispite some mechanical and cosmetic flaws this thing managed to get over 30 mpg!  I have recently stopped driving it because of some worries in the front suspension, but it gives me the opertunity to work on it slowly without having to rush to make sure it can get me to work the next day.  I was a huge fan of the thread and I am so glad that now we have our forum.

Here is a picture of my car:

Welcome to the board and don't hesitate to inquire about any mechanical problems/challenges you are experiencing. There are many knowledgable folks around here.

How did you find the forum?

Hey, where are you in Florida?  I'll be moving to Pensacola probably in late August.  Good luck with the car!

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I live in Hudson...thats why I normally just say middle of nowhere, it's like a hour north of Tampa.  The car is Silver, alittle faded here and there but mostly silver.  I heard about the forum through the 13 page thread on Bimmerforums.com. lol  If someone is parting a 318is I do have a shopping list...I will definetly take a look at that.  This is the second forum I have joined but by far the best.  I joined VWvortex and no one would give me the time of day.  Thanks.

Hey man, again, welcome...

it would be sweet if you could give us a quick run down of your car's mileage and the basic maintenance stuff you've done...

we have a kind of growing pool of informal 'service interval' information growing so it's nice to get everybody's thoughts on what needs to get done when.

My car is an extremely bad example of maintence and service intervals.  I change the oil too regularly, and I have yet to do a tune up yet.  I need to replace the brakes, but since I have a front suspension problem and I haven't been driving it and I have kinda "put that on the back burner" so to speak.  When I drove it I would change the oil biweekly.  Yes i'm crazy but I felt that it needed to be done.  I had a slight oil leak do to a accidental air born experience, and I check the oil regularly.  If the oil looked bad I would change the oil. I didn't always change the filter ( a filter everyother week would have been too much) but the car has well over 160k on the odometer and thatwas before it stopped working.  So I figured the extra precaution wasn't a bad thing, but I am a very bad example nonetheless.

dude, 160k is NOTHING on these cars! my car is about to hit 170k it's running awesome. i know 2 guys near me w/ 325i's with over 200k and im sure that more than half the members of this club have over 200k. these things will run all day long w/ sufficient maintainence AND tune up. i use full synthetic and change it and the filter after like 5-6k. biweekly is a little paranoid i think. How did you get airborn? was it awesome?

It should be mandatory that people post decent pics if they post a member profile here.  Does everyone agree?
