Don't think so... I think bmwfan91 tried them initially though and found that they wouldn't fit.

I didn't try those specifically, but a different set of square bodied coils that look just like it and they are way too big to fit into the channel in the valve cover for the spark plugs.

Thats why our coils have spark plug wires.

You've got to have the round bodied M50 style coils where the mounting tabs stick out from the coil body. There are photos in the other posts.

I think those are the same one's I used on my car.  Were those off a 740?  The only thing about them is you have to use the bracket that pushes the coil down again the cavity area. I'll look at mind tomorrow. like the first bracket that was posted here.

You can't see the part number on this photo, but this is how I used them.  The sattement made that they too big to fit is correct.  but I shaved off the off part of the mounting area as you can see in the photo they fit with the other method of securing them to the valve cover.

It should give some info on what I tried, and why I used the parts I did.  You COULD use those, but it would be a bit of a nightmare to get things fitted neatly!

BMWman91.  I printed out those / your pages, and am currently searching for used e46 coils.

Good times.  The BIG COP thread in here has a drawing for the bracket.  I still have some raw material to make a few more laying around, but I have yet to find the time to do it.
