the black paint has faded due to the constant dirt/sand from the wheels blasting away at it. I want to refresh that part, what type of paint will withstand the dirt/sand from everyday driving? I was thinking of apply rustoleum with a roller brush. Is there a specific product for that instead?

There is actually a paint made by 3M or SEM that is just like the original stuff. Try searching the forum; I know people have posted about it before.

i was going to go with wurth's stone guard. how does the SEM stand up to stone/rocks thrown form the wheels?

I used POR 15 on mine and then rattlecanned some rustoleum over it to protect it from the sun. It's been a year since I did it and it seems to be holding up very good.

I used some underbody undercoating type stuff. It worked pretty well and has held up for 6 months now. I just got it a pepboys or NAPA.

the bumpercoater has withstood rock peppering on the front of my Golf for about 5000 miles now with no issues.

I have it on some very exposed areas on my bike too and have had no issues with it chipping or flaking.

SEM products are professional grade. this is the kind of stuff that body shops use. the texture, colour and finish are very OEM.

For the chrome grill you want the SEM trim paint.

correct. you could probably use the bumpercoater, but that's not the intended use.

How many cans should one buy if they are planning on updating their rocker panels? And how many coats have you guys used to help it with stand all the weathering? Other than normal paint prepping should a primer be used?

And did you guys just use the "Original Bumper Coater" (PN 39103)??

those cans are pretty large, i purchased 2, but it's cold here so im putting it off until spring. btw, they are pretty pricey, about $12-15/can. i'm planning to do 2 coats.

I want to do my lip and rockers the same color (red) as my car .
