Coil spring top-plate
« on: November 06, 2007, 03:14:17 PM »
This summer i bought a 91 318is. whoever owned this car before me thought it would be a good i dea to cut the springs and torch off thetop plate that they sit in, so the spricgs are sitting right up to the top of the wheel well (thus a very low, soft suspension, only about 1.5inches from oil pan to ground). My question is, does anyone know if i can just easily replace that topplate or will i need a new strut housing or is it a piece that should be connected to the upper strut mount. HELP:confused:

Wow! What a DA. You probably just need some new parts. I have a set of stock springs and top plates. Actually I have a whole car. Let me know if you need parts. Check out realoem.com for what you need. Use the last seven of your VIN for quick reference to your exact car. Good info there.
