Hmmmm

1. Never cheap out on safety. If you cannot afford $4k to save your life, racing isn't for you. It's funny how people are willing to spend twice as much to make the car go fast but NEVER willing to invest in brakes, tires or good safety equipment.

2. Never drive a caged car on the street with stock seats and stock belts without high quality padding. You're asking for more than you bargained for in case of a wreck on the street.

3. That looks like a half cage? Perhaps it's the angle of the pics and you mentioned his dash has been hacked.

It was a really nice cage, it goes all along the roof front to back and there is no way the roof could cave in because of mulitple crossmembers. Really nice craftsmenship on making it flush with the car. As for safety! Brakes,Suspension,Cage,HP! This guy went. Cage. Suspension and thats about all i could see. I asked him if he wore a helmet while he drove around incase he hits his head on the cage.. he said he didnt wear anything, i told him here in Oregon im pretty sure thats illegal.. Grass aint illegal but driving without a helmet is

so true.

no helmet + roll cage + accident = very bad head injury (and/or death).

A full cage with us will run about 4k at the minimum.  We consult with each customer for class rules and setup before building as well.  Our fabricators also hand fit and notch each tube very precisely.  Baseplates are custom made and Mig welded to the body.  The rest are fully tig welded by hand.  The cage in my car would probably cost a customer about 4200.  It's very light, very stiff, and very nice.  It fits the chassis super tight in critical areas, with some models the tubes are so close to the unibody we can mig weld them straight to the chassis without gussets.  A cage that is integrated properly to the chassis is much much stiffer.  Custom craftsmanship just costs money.

Most cages below this cost will all use the same diameter and thickness tubing.  Skip features like foot protection, dash bars, head protection, bracing.  And are mig welded to save time on labor.

The shop recently did a full cage in a car and retained the air conditioning and vents in the dash while still fitting a dash bar...  Weird build.
