heres another one: exhaust
« on: October 24, 2007, 02:04:07 AM »
anyone heard stromung on a 4cyl bmw? they dont sound too bad on japanese cars but we all know our m42 is sensitive to different exhausts.  its difficult to get that nice bimmer sound.

would the exhaust for the 318ti fit our car?  its gotta be a small modification if any AND its stainless too.  at that price i might be willin to be a guinea pig for a brand name..
i was kinda iffy on that 'e30 exhaust for all' priced even higher than the 318ti

The ti one is probably too short. The z3 would be a better bet, although it doesn't say if it is the 4 or 6 cylinder. Stromung sounds good to me, it is fairly deep. It has a little bit too much rasp for me, though. i think there are a few videos on youtube with a stromung-ed 318ti, so you might want to check there.

Breathing life into a dead post.

Who thinks this looks like it would fit? If someone can post up a similar shot of their stock M42 E30 for comparison that'd fucking rock!

This one isn't the greatest, but it's not mine, just one I found to show the muffler shop what it is supposed to look like:

This is mine prior to me pulling it down to get it rewelded with the correct parts:

While we are under here, anybody have any issues not running with a heat shield?  Wondering if the heat might take out the Guibo or CSB.

comparing the pics on realoem (flame away) the 318ti and E30 318is look almost identical aside from the resonator being a little bigger on the Ti. The Ti has 106ish inch wheelbase, the Z3 has 96ish inch wheelbase, and the E30 is 101.2 inch wheelbase. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy one of these and find out, not anytime soon, but maybe in the next 3 months.
