Hey guys, I picked up my 318is last weekend from Vegas and managed to rack up almost 1k miles less than 3 days later

No complaints on the drive back except the radio needs the code, that sucked.

Breakdown:
Alpine White

Cloth Seats
Cracked Dash
93.6k miles now
No Sunroof or Check Panel

Here's some pics, nothing special, bone stock except for a few e30 warming gifts from a buddy. (i lip & blacked kidneys)

No sunroof!

However, I ran into a problem by the end of last week. Looks like the fuel sender line was just rotting away in the desert heat and I'm leaking some fuel right before it connects to the fuel filter. I traced the line and it looks like it's running over the fuel tank

and underneath the seats and connects to the gas tank or fuel pump?

I'm assuming I'd need to drop the tank and I'm not quite sure my wrenching skills are up for it. Anyone else had to do something like this? Any tips, or if it looks like it's gonna be a real pita I may just throw in the towel and take it to the mechanic.

Cracked / rotted line, picture turned out a lot worse than I thought.

At the bottom of the pic is where it clamps to the fuel filter.

And here it is disappearing w/ another line up and above.

looks hot, I wish I didnt have a sunroof.

dropping the tank is a pain in the ass, I had to replace one on my 85 318i it isnt really that hard or technical just a pain in the ass.

thats bomb mine is so close to being the same. i have a 91 318is with no sunroof. you need to lower it. i lowered mine and did some painting and this is what i have.

gives you a good idea what yours can look like lowered:)
whats your plans for it?

WELCOME! Did you find that car near Henderson? Saw one last trip out there.

Looks like the fuel line? If so I was able to replace mine w/o dropping the tank. It was a PITA but the lift made it do-able. Keep us posted on the changes.

I was reading around and unless I was delusional, I saw some place say that I'd need to remove the exhaust, rear subframe, and some other stuff to drop it!? Have any comments / tips?

And sweet 318, the drop really makes those stockers "fit".

I can't believe I'm going to say this but, for the most part I think I'm going to keep it close to stock. I had some boy racer rear end my e36 M3 over the summer and despite having reciepts for cam work done less than 3 mo's prior, they only gave me .20 on the dollar .... I don't want to go through that again.

Suspension has been on my mind but, for the time being I was thinking of replacing the ambers w/ smoked lighting, getting an iS lip, and doing some car control clinics and auto-x's.

Your car looks good in the pic, what's your suspension?

And FL318is, yep the car was at Instant Auto Sales in Henderson. Flew one way to Vegas and crossed my fingers hoping the inspection would pass. Got free front brakes out of it too.

And I don't have access to a lift, how'd you end up replacing yours without dropping the tank? Think jack stands could do the trick?
