Ok so the brakes are toast on my M42, i just ordered Brembo Slotted for the front and cross drilled brembos for the rear. I'm cheap so im going to just do caliper rebuilt kits all the way around. I'm going with some HAWK HPS pads. Ok so my question is.. Bavauto has 2 different SS brake lines.. one teflon coated and the other is not.. same price.. so should i order the teflon coated ones?

any reason why slot front drill rear?

slotted for front because they are vented. want the air ducts to push the dust back and not in. drilled for rear because they are solid.. dont want drilled in front because i do alot of HARD stopping.

interesting. i have the ATE rotors with the wavy slots, dunno how much they do, but I had brembos on my old Golf and they're nice... and in typical VW fashion they're cheaper than OEM.

Vdubs are too cheap.. ya i did some OEM replacements on my last E30 and wasnt really satified with it. I know a couple guys with tuned 325is and they run drilled brembos all the way around for the last year and have not had to change the pads and it still stops like new

You might aswell get the teflon coated lines. What brake fluid are you going to use? I'd recommend ATE Superblue DOT 4 if you intend on bringing it to the track.

ya figure it cant hurt. as for brake fluid im not really sure yet. i may replace the master cylinder while im doing the job, the car is just my DD dunno if im going to track it quiet yet. still got a few things to work out before its worthy

So no answer on the Teflon on the lines... Guess it cant hurt may as well get the teflon ones.. guess brake dust wont stick to them haha

I actually have zimmerman x-drilled rotors all around. I havn't had any problems with warping, but I don't know how they compare pricewise to the brembos.

I was told be some of the spec E30 guys, they use to use drilled/slotted rotors on their race cars. They have found that the drilled/slotted rotors didn't help their braking at all. So they went back to stock for a much cheaper price. I know they don't look as cool, but the performance for E30 brakes should be the same either way.
